TPN.health DEI Statement

As stated in our contracts and memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with our educators, we wanted to create a space where our company can have a public-facing article. This article keeps our users and employees informed on what we strive to accomplish diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Here is the diversity statement we have within our contacts and MOUs: 

TPN.health recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are a vital part of ethical practice, the core values of the practitioners we represent, and the foundation of our changing world. We aim to increase representation in our continuing education content and our partnerships, where we strive to bring varied perspectives and unique voices to critical issues facing behavioral health today. Our platform is built around the idea of giving access and connectivity to all trusted, licensed clinicians. We acknowledge that the only way to improve behavioral health outcomes is if all voices are represented and heard. While we have more work to advance diversity and inclusion internally, we’re investing in moving our company and the behavioral health space forward.   

The following is how we plan to accomplish diversity, equity, and inclusion externally within the company:

• We want to survey our users and focus groups.
• We want more diverse educators for Continuing Education events across all topics.
• We want to provide accommodations for persons with disabilities.
• We want to offer specific features on the website for clinicians with different identities.

How do we define diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace?

According to Indeed.com, diversity in the workforce refers to employees’ individual characteristics that make them unique. These characteristics can include gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, physical abilities, and political views. Keep in mind workforce diversity also consists of a person’s life experiences, how they solve issues, and a company’s culture. What diversity recruiting is not is seeking to hire candidates for the sake of diversity alone.

According to HumanRightsCareers.com, workplace diversity and inclusivity helps play an important role in equity. All employees should feel valued and empowered in the workplace, which means every employee has equitable access to further education, training, and promotion opportunities. In addition, every employee understands what is expected of them and how they will be recognized for their contributions.

According to Ideal.com, inclusion in the workplace is a collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment that increases the participation and contribution of all employees. In addition, true inclusion is to remove all barriers, discrimination, and intoleration. This will allow all employees to feel included and supported in the workplace.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to TPN.health and its employees. We hope to build policies, structures, and a company that always has these three values at the forefront of everything we do

Why is this important to us as an employer?

It’s essential to have diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace for many reasons. First, it allows different perspectives, new ideas, and creative solutions that will help TPN.health grow.

To best serve the needs of our users - who make up an exceptionally diverse group within the behavioral health industry - it’s vital to provide this diverse perspective.

Furthermore, companies with more diverse workforces outperform and out-innovate those who don’t (according to a 2018 McKinsey report).

How do we at TPN.health plan to work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion internally?

• We want to build a recruitment strategy and promotion practices focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• We want to be accommodating to the needs of our employees and offering flexibility for our employees.
• We want to offer training for our team focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• We want to partake in fundraisers and volunteerism for our local community.

As a user of TPN.health, we hope you hold us accountable for these items we stated are important to our community and provide any insight on how we can continue to grow our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. We have also empowered our employees to help lead our efforts via a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Culture Committee that meets weekly to discuss how to improve our company overall. We will be updating you annually on these goals we have set to help hold us accountable.
